Troy and Abed aren't cancelled!!! Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls NBC has said that their show Community has not been cancelled even though they have been placed on hiatus. So this spring will be the return of my personal favorite and one of the most funny and smart shows on television. Community is an ensemble comedy led by Joel McHale who plays Jeff Winger the self-centered, arrogant, smart ass lawyer that is at the head of the lovable group of misfits. This group is rounded out by Britta played by Gillian Jacobs, who is a hipster, anti-government, high school drop out, who is so unfunny that you learn to love her, Alison Brie of Mad Men fame plays Annie Edison who is a smart, hard-working, busy body who happen to get addicted to Aderol in High School and went a bit crazy, The amazingly talented and hilarious Chevy Chase plays Pierce Hawthorne the old racist, sexist, crazy older member of the study group, Yvette Nicole Brown of Drake and Josh fame plays Shirly Bennett the religious house wife who likes to shove her beliefs right down everybody's throats. Last but not least are the shows two favorite most innocent characters Troy Barnes played by Donald Glover or some may know him by his rap moniker Childish Gambino(read my last post) was the starting quarterback at his high school and is not very smart and far from mature but wants to be treated like a grown up he also lives with Annie and his best friend Abed Nadir played by Danny Pudi is one of the most endearing and beloved characters on television, he is very young at heart, he finds it hard to connect with people without seeing his life as a t.v. show, which leads to him not knowing how to handle some touchy situations. Abed is the glue that holds the group together because he truly loves these people as his family and is willing to do anything to keep them together as friends.
This show was created by the genius mind of Dan Harmon. Harmon is one of the smartest people I have ever heard speak, he truly is a very well-educated person who puts his all into this show. The same can be said for the actors and crew behind the scenes. They have a group of some of the most talented young actors and actress' in Hollywood, Donald Glover moonlights as one of the most skilled rappers in Hip Hop today. Alison Brie stretches her acting chops in the 60's t.v. drama Mad Men on AMC with her performance as Trudy Campbell. As for Danny Pudi all I can say is watch Community in the spring because he does so many different characters on the show it is amazing to watch.
This show is about a study group at fictional Greendale Community College who grow to become as close as a family and in the 59 episodes that have aired so far they have tackled action, drama, comedy, horror, stop motion and even a musical episode. They show just how truly talented the cast and writers are. Not to mention the amazing supporting cast they have including mainstays Ken Jeong of Hangover fame and Jim Rash who co-wrote The Descendants starring George Clooney
Now I feel like rating this show would be unfair because I truly relate to this show like nothing else I have ever watched. I truly consider myself a super fan, I have seen every episode an upwards of 30-40 times and I will continue to watch them over and over, with commentary, without it, either way the show never stops being funny no matter how many times I've heard the jokes. So if I had to rate this show it would be a perfect 10/10 and when the show comes back this spring if more people would tune in then maybe it will get the recognition it deserves
